Koi Knives Adelaide Myths & Truths

Posted by Sam Flaherty on

We've noticed some comments circulating online that our knives are simply not what they claim to be.

While Reddit a great place for information, some of it isn't always true or based in fact
The most upvoted post is a RickRoll (literally - it's Rick Astley on a bike) and in one of the most infamous moments users falsely accused an innocent person of a terror attack.

While open discussion is welcome and supported, some claims warrant a polite response.

We are dedicated local manufacturers. For those who haven't yet visited our workshop on Goodwood Road, let me give you a glimpse into our process.

On Wednesdays and Friday afternoons, you'll find Shannon and Chris (A retired mate who likes using the CNC) hard at work in the shed. They spend their time cutting handles on the CNC machine, or developing new designs.

Yes, generic knockoffs exist online resembling our styles. But a closer look shows they are clearly different in shape and build quality. Some claims show only one knife that looks similar and assumptions have been made from this.

We're happy to share some of our CAD files or videos of handle making for the skeptics.

We're the first to tell people that we do not make the steel ourselves. We don't have a forge, and don't claim to. All our designs are done inhouse and we import the steel from various places - mainly Japan for the VG-10 steel used in most of our knives.

While the internet allows anonymous claims, seeing is believing. We invite skeptics to stop by for a chat and tour.

Viewing our operation firsthand dismantles assumptions.

It's understandable to be wary - but before making judgments, consider speaking with us in person rather than random web comments.

We strive to be reliable partners to our local community. We're not a faceless corporation pumping out cheap products for the masses.

We live here in Adelaide (Ramon literally lives 5 minutes away, and Shannon's in the Hills) and give back to our community whenever we can.

Whether it be from donating to local sports and community groups or prizes for the next up and coming cooking students, we support the community that supports us.

So please don't hesitate to pay us a visit and witness the real story for yourself. Truly understanding takes precedence over dubious online "research".

We appreciate all customer feedback, and simply ask for fairness in evaluation. Our passion ensures every knife receives care and attention unmatched by mass production elsewhere.

We also funnily find the irony in hoping you believe this post rather than others on the internet, but as we mentioned above, come on by and see what we do.
