Knife Sharpening Service - Adelaide (Clarence Park)

Just like knife making, it took us a few years to be happy enough with our service to make knife sharpening in Adelaide something we offer.

Where are you?

We are proud that we have now begun knife sharpening in our store, 330 Goodwood Road, Clarence Park. We welcome you to come by and drop off your knives for sharpening and we will advise you how long it will take depending on the queue - usually a two week turnaround - it can be quicker depending on workload.

What types of knives do you sharpen?

  • Japanese high carbon steel knives
  • German steel knives
  • Basically any knife found in a kitchen (we love to see heirlooms and vintage knives)

We primarily focus on kitchen knives at the moment.

Why no hunting knives? Our machines are carefully calibrated to work specifically with kitchen knives, the curvature of hunting knives are a bit too technical to be able to offer this service for the price below.

Knife Sharpening Pricing?

Sharpening prices vary, beginning at $20, depending on the work to be done.

  • Sharpening prices begin at $20+ but will vary depending on the condition of the knife.
  • We will give you a quote on the work before commencing.
  • Knives are sharpened in the order in which they are dropped into us - sometimes there may be 5 in the queue, sometimes 50.

Unlike many sharpening services we perform whetstone sharpening by hand.

We do this to preserve your knife (remove less steel) and therefore make your knives last a lot longer. It does take us longer so it typically costs more (when compared to sharpeners using electric sharpeners).

Neither approach is correct (for low cost knives sometimes you're better off using an electric service however you'll need to replace them more often).

In terms of pricing we will let you know before we begin so you can decide.

Drop Off Times

We are open Monday to Fridays 9:00am - 4:30pm

We aim to have the sharpening completed within 2 weeks (sometimes it can be quicker) but we will give you a call to let you know when they are ready.

We can also give you a knife to try out while yours is being sharpened - all we ask is that you don't try to sharpen the knife yourself and you treat it with the love and respect you would your own.
